30 Days of Thankfulness

Day#4 – I’m thankful for my story

Each day is a story of happenings and events which will teach, hurt, inform, guide, entertain, frighten, excite, bore or comfort us. Stories change us.

Today, I chose to reflect on my life’s story. Although, at age 28, it’s currently short in length, I can say that Chapter Twenty-Eight contains more complex scenes and acts than Chapter One did. And the more complex my story has become, the more positive and negative changes I have endured. The more lessons I’ve learned, and new insights and perspectives I’ve gained which make me better able to be the best person I can be. I have learned to make the best with what I have and to help others to do the same.

And no matter how joyful or painful my experiences have been, they were no surprise to God, and with each experience, I’ve had more strength to endure, and to make each new decision better than the previous one. I am thankful to God that I live a life with few complaints and the ability to choose how I live.

I try to live my life in such a way that when my story is told, those who read and hear about it will be better than what they were after learning about it. No, my story will never be perfect— but I thank God for my story.

Today, I want to feature a lyric video by one of my favorite singers— Morgan Harper Nichols. (She is the elder sister of celebrated singer and guitarist Jamie Grace [Harper], and I enjoy the music of both of these talented women.) The song is entitled, “Storyteller“, and it is a reflection of how God was with Morgan through her triumphs and pains.

After you’ve watched the video, tell me what you think about it, and be sure to share your story today! Let’s have a conversation 🙂
