Simply put: it is through media that we get informed and entertained. So, I’m thankful. Today, I want to share a short video on how media influences society (I’m a communications and media major, so these things stand-out to me :-).
Feel free to share you comments.
Iambs and pentameters. Melody, rhythm and rhyme. Poetry are words which dance on a page. Or, in the heart. And sometimes, they flow from the mouth and pierce others’ minds with notions…and thoughts…and lessons…ideas…and on…and on…and on.
Poetry is what I do when I am not physically dancing, singing, drawing, or playing a musical instrument. In other words, if I’m not dancing, then I’m probably, singing. If I’m not singing, then I’m probably, reading, writing, reciting, or thinking about… a poem.
You may wonder why I like poetry so much. For now, the answer to that question is simple: I don’t know why. But I can tell you that poetry is to me what music is to dance, what peanut butter is to jelly, and what ham is to burger. I love poetry, and I thank God for giving mankind the ability to create poetry.
I want to share with you some of my favorite poems featured at the GoodPoetry Journal at http://www.GoodPoetry.org. Click the following links to hear and read them.
And before you go, please tell me what do you like about poetry? Who are your favorite poets? And, what are your favorite poems? Please feel free to post them on this blog.
Dancing is like breathing to me. It’s the one thing I do to get away from the world around me and become one with the beat of a drum, or the melody of a song. And like music, dancing has been an integral part of my upbringing and way of life.
Some of my earliest memories consist of me either making music, or dancing to music. And while I was making the music, I was dancing in my head, or patting my feet on the floor 🙂
I don’t think I’m alone when I say that music is __________ [you fill in the blank]. For me, it’s beautiful and it’s freedom. It gives an avenue of expression which sometimes words alone cannot convey to the soul. Like mathematics, it is a universal language which is not limited to nativity, state or region.
